William Edward Atkinson

William Edward "Joe" Atkinson, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend was born the youngest son of the late Kentchison and Gladys Atkinson on February 2, 1941 in Johnston County, NC. He departed this earthly life and entered eternal rest on Sunday, October 1, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: James and Melton; sisters: Tarsha and Walcie; and grandson: Domonique Vick.
Joe attended Richard B. Harrison School where he completed his elementary education. He later attended occupational college where he received certification as a professional welder. He worked with C. C. Magnum Construction for many years.
At the time of his passing, Joe was a member of Agape Christian Fellowship in Smithfield, NC under the leadership of Pastor Pete Bryant.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Josephine Atkinson; biological and non-biological children: Nicole Atkinson-Jones, Wanda Atkinson-Wiley, Matilda Atkinson, Veronica Richardson, JoAnn Atkinson, and Milton Vick; 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; sisters: Lola Earp and Trudy Hoover; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
