William Henry Sims was born in Micro, NC on February 29, 1932. He departed this life on December 12, 2013 at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
William joined Warren's Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church on May 16, 1953. He was a dedicated and devoted member where he served as trustee and treasurer.
William was educated in the Johnston County school system. He was a graduate of Richard B. Harrison High School. He entered the U.S. Navy where he served from 1955 to 1961 as a Seaman General earning an honorable discharge. Later he decided to further his education at Johnston Community College where he was awarded an Associates degree in Emergency Management.
William retired from the state of NC as a healthcare technician at Cherry Hospital in Goldsboro, NC after over 30 years of devoted service.
William was preceded in death by his mother, Velma Eloise Stewart Sims, his father, Randolph Sims and a stepson, the Honorable Judge Robert Lee Anderson, Sr. (Doris).
William leaves to cherish his legacy: his wife, Mrs. Annie Sanders Anderson Sims, Smithfield NC; a stepson, Dr. Alton Ray Anderson, Sr. (Terri), Weldon NC, a surrogate son, Horace Wendell Sanders (Deborah), Zebulon NC, a daughter, Sheila Anne Sims, Herndon VA; two sisters, Mrs. Priscilla King, Selma NC and Mrs. Estella Street (Alonzo), Tarboro NC; one aunt, Lillian Stewart Barnes (Bobby) Raleigh NC; five grandchildren, Jack Hurst Anderson, Sr. (Abrielle), Silver Spring MD, Reverend Dr. Alan Jones Anderson, Sr. (Alicia), Herndon VA, Robert Lee Anderson II (Jametta), Silver Spring MD, Attorney Tori Loré Anderson, Miami FL and Alton Ray Anderson, Jr., Chapel Hill NC; 8 great grandchildren; one very special niece Velma King, Clayton NC, 5 special nephews (Anthony Douglas King, Christopher Levon Brown, Gilbert Lee King Sr., Jim Brown and Duane Brown), and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
